Cycle shuttle
On account of the numerous avalanche protection galleries and the constant gradient the Felbertauern Highway is to be recommended for experienced cyclists only. We must point out that there is no separate cycle lane and cyclists therefore have to use the normal traffic lanes. Furthermore, cycling in the centrepiece of the route – the Felbertauern tunnel – is prohibited (in accordance with §47 StVO – Expressway/Autostrasse).
That is why the Felbertauernstrasse AG provides a cycle shuttle which can be used individually, according to requirements. As we are on duty 24/7, it is not necessary to order your transfer in advance. Should you wish to curtail your wait at the tunnel entrance just call 0043 4875 8806 11 when you are a few kilometres away from the tunnel and inform the tunnel station of your arrival. You can also have a brief rest and order your transfer when you get to the tunnel entrance. Approximately 100 metres before you reach the northern end of the tunnel there is a notice with all the necessary information on how to take advantage of this service. If you come up from Matrei simply inform our staff at the toll plaza. Normally you will not need to wait very long for your shuttle.
The charge for this service is well below the actual cost and amounts to 18 euros for max. 6 people (including bikes). For the transport we use only bike carriers of the following make. Please check suitability.
